Chanel put their own twist on the traditional fashion show
this year during Paris Fashion Week. For the show the Grand Palais was turned
into a giant supermarket, complete with thousand of products complete with Chanel
packaging. Instead of walking down the catwalk, the models walked up and down
the aisles, complete with Chanel baskets. The scene was even made
complete with the music being interrupted several times with announcements about
items on promotion.
After the show the products went flying off the shelves as the eager audience were able to look around the Chanel Supermarket.
According to Karl Largerfeld, the idea behind
the show was that supermarkets are for everybody, including the rich. After the show the products went flying off the shelves as the eager audience were able to look around the Chanel Supermarket.
"It's a modern approach to luxury. If you're lucky enough to be able to buy these things, buy them, but don't wear them to show how rich you are....The big thing in Chanel is that we can play with everything and do whatever we want. Nobody tells us what to do, we are totally free."
